For those watching the Paralympics this week, you probably saw Algeria’s Abdellatif Baka win gold in the 1500m run. What you probably didn’t notice is that Baka’s winning time was actually faster than the Olympic winning time set by Matthew Centrowitz. That means Baka ran the fastest 1500m time by any athlete, disabled or not, in Rio this year!
This feat was made even more stunning given the fact that the second, third and fourth-place finishers all recorded times faster than Centrowicz. To put that in perspective, the top four Paralympic finishers in the 1500m ran times fast enough to win gold had they competed in the Olympic Games.
Congrats Abdellatif Baka (1st place), Tamiru Demisse (2nd place), Henry Kirwa (3rd place) and Fouad Baka (4th place) on this incredible feat!

It’s Friday in September which means the fall sports season is finally here!
Team Amigo celebrated by hosting a tailgate party with delicious brats, chips, salads and desserts. We also celebrated the event by wearing our favorite sports team apparel, and employees could pay to wear jeans with all proceeds going to our United Way fundraiser. Great work Team Amigo!
